Skipper Sam Baker is committed to delivering safe, professional, and reliable service across all engagements. To ensure clarity and fairness for both parties, the following terms apply:

Booking & Availability

  • Confirmed Start Date: Once a job is booked and a start date is agreed, Sam commits to your project exclusively from that date forward.
  • No Other Commitments: From the confirmed start date, Sam will not accept other work and is available to assist with pre-departure preparations, vessel readiness, or documentation.

Standby & Delay Policy

  • Standby Charges: If the vessel is not ready to depart (due to documentation delays, owner changes, or mechanical issues), a weekly standby fee applies. This ensures Sam is compensated for holding time and availability.
  • Weather Delays: Once the vessel is fully ready and the only factor is waiting for safe weather, no standby charges apply. This protects the safety of all involved and removes pressure to depart in marginal conditions.

Payment Terms

  • Billing Method: Jobs are billed per calendar day of active travel. Part days are charged as full days.
  • Invoices: Issued monthly (for ongoing jobs) or upon completion for shorter trips.
  • Currency: All quotes are provided in New Zealand Dollars (NZD).
  • Quote Validity: Quotes are valid for 14 days unless otherwise agreed.

Reimbursements

The following costs are reimbursable by the client:

  • Return airfare to home port
  • Ground transfers to/from the vessel
  • Accommodation if the vessel is not immediately accessible upon arrival

Vessel Responsibilities

Unless otherwise agreed, the vessel (or client) is responsible for covering:

  • Fuel
  • Port and mooring fees
  • Onboard food and provisions
  • All safety equipment and certifications
  • MNZ documentation costs (if applicable)

Cancellations

  • Short Notice Cancellations (within 14 days): May incur a cancellation fee or forfeiture of deposit
  • Force Majeure (weather or natural events): These will be managed in good faith with client flexibility

Liability & Safety

  • Sam will always operate within maritime safety regulations and reserves the right to postpone or cancel operations if conditions are deemed unsafe.
  • Liability for vessel condition, equipment failure, or unseaworthiness rests with the owner/operator.
  • Sam is not responsible for consequential losses due to mechanical failure, customs issues, or port closures.
